About Us
Glenwood has stood nine stallions in 2010 covering many disciplines
in the equine world, and a great deal of thought has been put into providing
people with competition stallions of high levels who have good movement and also
good temperament.
Rob and Val Williams
have been involved with competition horses and breeding for a great many
years
Val has competed on a great many horses to Grade B
Level Show Jumping/ Intermediate Level British Eventing and Advanced Medium Level Dressage being at
Regional Finals etc many times, she has also been Pony Club Chief
Instructor for many years training teams for dressage, eventing and
showjumping and is a filly inspector with the British Connemara Pony
Society. Val now successfully shows a lot of connemara's in hand
Rob has competed and taught Show Jumping and done a
great deal of Show Jumping and Cross Country, he has also shown and had
many successes showing hunters, connemara's and coloured horses in hand. To add to this
he is now a Defra approved qualified advanced AI technician.
Therefore Val and Rob have a good insight into the requirements for breeding a certain type of horse and are able to help clients and give them useful advice.
Glenwood first started out as a training and livery establishment with breeding as a part of things, and everything has always been to a high standard producing and turning out horses for showing, dressage, show jumping and eventing as well as producing horses for at least five joint masters of foxhounds. So in turn the stud is run to standards which comply with Defra and is a Defra approved semen collection centre and has the approval to export and import semen to other EU member states.
Glenwood has also become one of only a few studs in Britain to be awarded the coveted British Equestrian Federation’s “Breeder’s Quality Mark” following a most stringent approval inspection of the stud in which every aspect of the business was assessed. The scheme has the objective of giving added confidence to breeders of horses/ponies regarding skill/welfare/record keeping regarding their mares. Glenwood stud feels very honoured to have achieved this award having attained the high standards necessary for approval.
