Stud Season 2017

The stud season is in full swing!!!!! We have so far had lots of mares covered & lots of beautiful foals born both here at Glenwood and also at their owner’s homes. Our stallion semen has been posted across both the UK & also Ireland over the past few weeks. Our stud manager & DEFRA approved AI technician has been kept very busy over the past few weeks with scanning mares daily & AI’ing numerous mares with fresh, chilled & frozen semen, the days have been very long & nights very short.

Despite our busy stud season we have also managed to have a couple of trips out to Shows with some of our Welsh cobs & Connemara’s. Tomorrow we are heading up to the Royal Highland with Abergavenny Welsh Comet (Welsh Section D stallion) who is taking a break from his stud work & his friend Abergavenny Mighty Me (Welsh Section C yearling). We will be heading back up to the Royal Highland again on Sunday with Thorney Browns filly Take the Moment by Take it 2 the Limit (Advanced Event Stallion, 297BE points standing at Glenwood Stud).

We were thrilled to find out that our resident Show Jumping stallion Wise Guy R is actually related to Nick Skelton CBE Rio Olympic Gold Medal winning Show jumper Big Star, as they both share Nimmerdor in the bloodlines. Please see Wise Guy R website page for further information & read the article we found in Horse & Hound. There are also photos of a youngster born via Embryo Transfer by Wise Guy R.

If you would like to come & visit us, please give us a ring to arrange an appointment. We look forward to seeing you soon!
