Royal Highland 2017

In the wee hours of Friday morning we loaded up with Abergavenny Welsh Comet (Welsh Section D stallion) & his young friend Abergavenny Mighty Me (Welsh Section C yearling) & headed up North to the Royal Highland Show.

First into the ring was Abergavenny Mighty Me (pictured below), who was determined to show his bigger & older friend what he could do in the ring! He held his own in the very strong class Welsh Section C class. He behaved impeccably & came 2nd also. This was only his second show & what a huge show it is!

Next followed Abergavenny Welsh Comet, always the showman, had a whale of a time powering around the show ring. With a swish of his tail he was off, showing the Judge, crowd & other competitors what he could do! He came 2nd to Llanarth Fiery Jack owned by the Bigley Family, who also bred & own Abergavenny Welsh Comets Sire Llanarth Prince of Wales.

On Sunday at a slightly more respectable hour we headed back up to the Royal Highland again with Thorney Browns 2 year old filly Take the Moment by Take it 2 the Limit (Advanced Event Stallion, 297BE points standing at Glenwood Stud). Take the Moment competed in the 2 & 3 year old Coloured Class. Out of 11, she came 3rd behind two more mature 3 year olds. The Class was very strong but she held her own very well, & made everyone at Team Glenwood very proud.

In other news, we also learnt that Louise Higham & Laburnum Thigue came 1st in the BE90 Section E, at Alnwick Ford, finishing on a score of 36.10, with a Dressage score of 30.5.

Congratulations also must go to Skellorn Prairie Star by Skellorn Harrison & his young 12 year old jockey, Anna Tansey, on winning at Aintree National Show yesterday.
