Border Union Show 28th & 29th July 2017

Well it was another early start for a road trip up across the Scottish Border to the Border Union 2017 Show. On board was the young 2 year old colt Glenwood Stud Strike a Note (Skellorn Harrison out of Eastlands Wild Orchid), Welsh Section D Stallion Abergavenny Welsh Comet & last but by no means least Glenwood Stud Limited Edition (Princess Grace x Panama) Class 1 Connemara mare. She could be described a as ‘rose between two thorns’, although both boys behaved like young gentlemen.

First in the ring was Glenwood Stud Strike a Note (Wild Orchid x Skellorn Harrison) won the 2 year old Connemara class, then went on to become Champion Connemara's, where he received the Sydserff Connemara Cup. Not bad for his first out this year & only his third time out in his young life!

Followed by Glenwood Stud Limited Edition (Princess Grace x Panama) won her class, went on to be Reserve Champion to her fellow Glenwood kin Glenwood Stud Strike a Note. Mr. and Mrs. W. in the ring again had to blow the cobwebs off, as Ryan Joyce was other wised engaged in the Welsh Ring.

Finally it was the turn of Glenwood Stud Limited Edition (Princess Grace x Panama) who won her class, went on to be Reserve Champion to her fellow Glenwood kin Glenwood Stud Strike a Note. Mr. and Mrs. W. in the ring again had to blow the cobwebs off, as Ryan Joyce was other wised engaged in the Welsh Ring.

Abergavenny Welsh Comet won his Stallion Class, then went back into the Championship, where he was Reserve Champion C’s & D’s

There were also three other youngsters by Glenwood Stallions at Border Union this year, one by Take it 2 the Limit & the other two by the Connemara legends Rosenaharley Laughris & Minsmere Sunseeker.

Congratulations to Miss Jaeger McCreath’s Connemara, Bellindene Boxer by late Minsmere Sunseeker who was 2nd in the Ridden New Forrest & Connemara Class. It was so lovely to see him as Minsmere Sunseeker is such a huge miss on the yard still.

Congratulations to Alison Allan & Glenwood Stud Royal Sovereign (Rosenaharley Laughris x Princess Grace) on their 3rd place in the same class. So lovely to see two Connemara’s by two legends doing so well & following in their fathers hoof steps.

Congratulations to Julie and Michael Lowrie who took their two year old Harley Quinn's Limit by Take It 2 the Limit to Border Union on Saturday. Harley Quinn’s Limit not only won the two year old In Hand Hunter Class, but was Reserve Champion In Hand Hunter & Reserve Champion Best Bred Horse in the Borders. That is some CV for a 2 year old at one Show!
