Take it 2 the Limit ridden by Olympic Rider Jeanette Brakewell

Take It 2 The Limit has joined Breeders Elite Stud book. We are very pleased to announce that not only was our stallion approved by the Breeders Elite studbook, they have in fact approved him as an Elite Stallion.

We are delighted that this stallion is finally getting the recognition he deserves.Knowing now that he was in           fact classed Elite as a young four year old in France in their Young Event Horse Pompadour competitions.

He has never looked back, clear every Advanced Track, 297 points.

He is one of the most proven living Event Stallions in Europe and the UK, 70% TB blood Advanced Event Stallion also Graded SHB.

A consistent, tough, trainable and sound Stallion sourced by Olympic medalist Leslie Law and then

campaigned by Olympic rider Jeanette Brakewell. His career is glittered with top results including

Top 10 at Bramham, Hartpury and Chatsworth CCI4*

He is a sire of talented horses including Advanced, Intermediate 3*, Advanced 3*, Show horses

etc. He has an unbelievable temperament which he passes on.

We received a lovely message from Vincent Lascombes about Take it 2 the Limit.

He said “I am proud to have started this horse and ridden it all his 4 years in competition,

with an Elite classification in the final of Pompadour. He was the best horse I have ever

ridden. At the time, his name was Maestro du Saillan”.

He continued “from memory, we only made three events before the final of Pompadour.

Haras de Jardy, Bonneville and Mourmelon. We won the three. Young horse, it was already

a very different horse from the ones I had ridden before. And yet I rode a lot. He was a

gifted student. Everything seemed easy with him. Cold in his head, with three magnificent gaits, a lot of strength and flexibility, I am not very surprised that he is a good stallion.

I would like to see him again one day, if we can travel again one day. I was a rider in an

eventing stable at the time. Maestro (Take it 2 the Limit) remains my best memory of a horse, and my saddest memory when Leslie Law came to try him. I was sure he would buy him. But happy today to see his great career.”  - Vincent Lascombes

Take it 2 the Limit is certainly a stallion of high calibre and is available both AI and natural covering with amazing fertility in both. He has proved himself to be a true producer of performance horses of all disciplines and his stock are proving this time and time again.

"He’s one of the nicest youngsters I’ve ever had. His jump is to die for and he has the right paces and attitude to go with it."  -  Leslie Law MBE

Take it 2 the Limit was hand-picked in France for Hartpury College by Olympic Gold medallist Leslie Law who trained and lightly competed him with great success. They crowned the first season with Take it 2 the Limit being placed fourth in the final of the Winergy Burghley Young Event Horse and third in the final of the PAVO British Breeding Championships.

Olympic Rider Jeanette Brakewell took over the education of the promising young Stallion from Leslie in 2006 and the partnership worked very well. Highlights in 2006 include being placed at the CCI* at the Mitsubishi Motors Hartpury Three Day Event and winning at Purston Manor. In 2007 the team had great success coming third at Houghton International CCI** and ending the season with victory at Burnham Market.

Jeanette Brakewell said “he is consistent in all three paces due to his level temperament.  The toughness of the Selle Francais, combined with the TB are qualities needed for the modern event horse.”

He was 3rd at Chatsworth ***, 2nd at Aston Le-Walls and by far the best British horse. When his demand for Stud duties increased he went back to Hartpury to Stand at Stud. He has jumped clear XC at every Advanced/*** event in his career! and with 297 BE points he went to Stud without a mark on his legs.

He has paraded at Burghley more than once and was asked to parade at Badminton in 2013.

The fact that he could compete and go to Stud is a great tribute to his temperament.

It has been brought to our attention that there has been a mis-understanding regarding Take it 2 the Limit on the SHB website. In January 2019, Take It 2 The Limit was tested for WFFS and his result was in fact negative N/N.

Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you are interested in using the most proven International Event Stallion in East Yorkshire and the North. Himself and his International progeny are proof of this.

I will admit I felt a little overwhelmed when Mike Tucker, the voice of Eventing, announced me into the SJ arena. I try not to dwell on our event ending with me taking a frustrating tumble at fence 3 XC but we went on 2 weeks later to finish top 20 with a double clear in the CCI** (now 3 star long) at Osberton".

4 year old 2 Unlimited full brother to Lils Unlimited Lass had a great outing to Allens Hill, his owner Hannah Jones described him as "working in well for their Prelim 18 to score 69.23%. There was loads to look at and a little spook at the horse jumping next door was fabulous experience for him! He then jumped a good round at 85cm with just an unlucky clipped pole at the last, feeling much more consistent and balanced in the canter".

He went to the NAF International Hartpury Horse Trials for his second Burghley Young Event Horse class. He jumped a brilliant round with very well dressed up to height fences! Finished just outside the top 10 in 11th on the same score as 10th!

Information on the bloodlines of Take it 2 the Limit

Take it 2 the Limit’s Sire, the Eventer Gaub was owned by the National Stud of France and died unfortunately in his second breeding season. From the small 2000 crop he produced apart from Take it 2 the Limit some top horses such as Advanced Eventer Manoir de Carneville, who was exported to USA and listed for the USET Development Squad and he has gone on to be 2nd at Burghley 2012 leading after both Dressage and Cross Country within the time, he was also 3rd at the Rolex Kentucky in his first CCI4* in 2011. The Sire of Gaub was the great Count Ivor xx, and his Dam Sahelle was by the famous Double Espoir; son of Ibrahim and sire of more than 20 approved sons.

Take It 2 The Limit’s Dam, Peseta De Sivola, was an amazing broodmare; she was very fertile and produced a number of very good competition horses with different stallions, with many Grand Prix horses to her credit.

The most successful apart from Take It 2 The Limit are Chalouze de Sivola (Eventer by Altayan, who competed at the European Championships), Bec De Sivola (Eventing, SJ, by Tin Soldier), Intrigue De Sivola (Grand Prix SJ, Eventing, by Paritschou), Eole De Sivola (Show Jumper by Altayan) and Lazuli De Saillan (International Eventing, Grand Prix SJ, by Rubloff). She proves what a very good Dam line Take it 2 the Limit has which is so important when breeding a top class stallion.

In his pedigree one will find the stallion Joli Coeur who is the sire of Coup De Coeur who very successfully competed under Leslie Law. Joli Coeur's sire Rantzau xx is also the sire of one of the most important SJ sires in modern time; Cor de la Bryère.
