With yesterday being Valentine’s Day, we thought we would give you a little update about what we have been doing over the winter and how you can book your mare in with us.
We are lucky enough to have a wide range of stallions for all disciplines. Each one has their own personality, as do our stud mares. We currently have two Connemara stallions of our own Eastlands Hollybrae & Lickeen Prince, then a further two who belong to the Joyce Family, Castleside JJ Junior & Supernova.
Eastlands Hollybrae known as Thomas at home loves a Jam donut! But it has to be a Tesco one…. He is quite picky when it comes to where the donut comes from. He loves his treat ball on an evening, but we are not too sure if the other equine residents of the barn would agree! Thomas also loves to face plant himself in the mud!!! We think this may be a family trait as some of his siblings seem to like mud as well.
Lickeen Prince (aka Patrick or Paddy) on the other loves a good chat with you & he sings for his supper! He has grown & matured so much over the winter. He has started his ridden education & loves it. We are looking forward to seeing him out & about showing again this next season.
Next we have Abergavenny Welsh Comet, who is known as Comet here at home. He is most definitely the biggest showman we have here! He loves the lime light & loves to show off!!!!He has had a fantastic In Hand career to date. He has been broken & is now about to leave here for a few weeks for a Ridden Showing education, so watch this space!
We also have the incredible Take it 2 the Limit who was originally ridden by the legend Leslie Law then by Olympic Rider Jeanette Brakewell. He loves to chat with small humans, in fact smaller the better! He has the most amazing kind temperament, which he is passing onto his youngstock. He was a superstar in the world of eventing but now he is a superstar on our yard, being the Sire of some amazing progeny already.
Last but by no means is least our stunning showjumper stallion Wise Guy R, who is bred in the purple. He too loves a good old chat. He has the best view on E wing, as he can see down the drive towards to the outside school. Guy (as he is known at home) is related to Nick Skelton CBE Rio Olympic Gold Medal winning Showjumper Big Star; they both have Nimmerdor in their bloodlines.
So as you can see by the stallion pages on our website & their stud cards, each of our gentlemen have a lot to offer any potential mare/future wife.
Our stud is based within the beautiful countryside, with large amounts of grazing (when the weather is nice) and stables (for when the weather is awful). We have large foaling boxes, CCTV installed, and of course a very experienced AI Technician onsite. We are proud to be sponsored by TopSpec.
